How Does Physical Therapy Help Torticollis?

Torticollis is a condition characterized by tightness of the stemocleidomastoid muscle. This muscle causes the head to tilt toward the tightness and rotate to the opposite direction. The condition may also be referred to as ‘wryneck’ or ‘twisted neck’.
Although children can be born with torticollis, known as ‘congenital muscular torticollis’, it may take parents several weeks after birth to notice as children begin to gain more control of their head movement.
